MS GAS is the leading participant in the Busan Ammonia Eco-friendly Energy Regulatory Free Zone.

This press release has been uploaded by Busan Metropolitan City:

In November of last year, the city of Busan, led by Mayor Park Hyung-jun, held an inaugural meeting

for the designated "Busan Ammonia Eco-friendly Energy Regulatory Free Zone," marking a successful first step.

The "Busan Ammonia Eco-friendly Energy Regulatory Free Zone" was designated as Busan's third regulatory free zone

in November 2021, following the blockchain zone in 2019 and the marine mobility zone in 2020.

This special zone project aims to demonstrate new technologies for utilizing ammonia,

which is used as fertilizer or industrial raw material, as an environmentally friendly fuel for ships.

It consists of three projects:

1) Demonstration of ammonia-based fuel cell hybrid eco-friendly ships

2) Demonstration of mobile liquefied ammonia standard containers (ISO tank containers)

3) Demonstration of mobile ammonia fuel ship bunkering.

The total project cost, including government funding, is 336 billion won over four years starting from this year.

Seventeen local companies and institutions, including Busan Techno Park, Panasia, Dae Chang Solution, and MS GAS, participate as special zone operators.

The inaugural meeting of the special zone project was attended by about 60 people, including representatives from the city of Busan,

the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, and the 17 participating companies.

The meeting included presentations on the project plan and business networking among the special zone operators.

Various opinions were presented at the meeting, including the establishment of regular on-site inspections,

the formation of safety inspection committees with the participation of external experts, and support for commercialization

by Busan Techno Park, aiming for a safe and smooth implementation of the demonstration projects.

The participating companies expressed their determination to successfully complete the demonstration projects,

lead the international standards in the field of eco-friendly ships, and pioneer the market of ammonia eco-friendly energy

by seizing the technology.

Shin Chang-ho, the Director of the Industrial and Commercial Bureau of Busan City, expressed gratitude to the corporate representatives

who have made significant efforts to prepare for future industries and secure advanced technologies amid various difficulties,

including the prolonged COVID-19 situation. He stated that they would make every effort to support the special zone project,

which could be the cornerstone of Busan's journey toward becoming a "Global Hydrogen Economy Green City."
